About Neotokyo

Neotokyo in Montreal brings a modern twist to Japanese-inspired dining right in the heart of the city. Situated at 425 Avenue Viger O, the restaurant has quickly become a go-to spot for anyone looking to experience bold flavors, stylish presentation, and a vibe that feels both urban and welcoming. Walking in, you immediately notice the sleek design that plays on contemporary Tokyo influences while still keeping a cozy, approachable atmosphere.

The menu at Neotokyo is where tradition meets creativity. Classic Japanese favorites like sushi and ramen are elevated with unique touches, while small plates and fusion-style offerings add variety for those who want to try something new. The sushi rolls, for example, often come with inventive fillings or striking presentations that make them stand out from the typical options around town. Meanwhile, the ramen bowls are hearty and comforting, layered with broths that feel rich and deeply satisfying.

Another highlight is how the dishes balance flavor and aesthetics. Every plate feels carefully crafted, almost like edible art, yet nothing is overcomplicated. This makes the experience enjoyable whether you’re a longtime fan of Japanese cuisine or just dipping your toes into something different. Pairing a meal with a refreshing drink or sake from their list can take the dining experience up another notch, adding to the sense of fun and discovery.

As for service options, Neotokyo makes things convenient for different dining preferences. Guests can enjoy dine-in for a full experience that captures the ambiance, or opt for takeout when they want those flavors on the go. Either way, the service is known for being attentive and efficient, ensuring the focus stays on enjoying good food in a smooth, easygoing way.

We enjoyed Neotokyo that we came back for the 2nd time the following day! Matcha beer was actually the reason why we decided to visit, unfortunately it was not available anymore. But the bartender offered us to try their other drinks which we enjoyed! We were sitting at the bar the entire time, we just had a full dinner somewhere, and only up for drinks. We had a good view of how the chef were making the ramens, that’s why we decided to come the following day which we never regret. All the food were superb and especially the service!

The vibe is 100% Tokyo. The truffle ramen was ridiculously good. Portions are very generous. Friendly and quick service. I will definitely be coming again!

I may have found my new favorite ramen place in town. The decor is striking. It's like the original Blade Runner. It's very well done. Great place for a dinner date. Menu has a lot of typical appetizers, ramen and mazemen. We tried the house wontons, the classic tonkotsu ramen and house mazemen. Everything was excellent. The katsu was perfect, probably the best I've had here. The cocktails were also very interesting. Nice staff. Come early, because it's popular. Prices aren't cheap (especially the apps), but the quality is there. I'll absolutely return.

Visited 1 time. Welcoming staff, clean place and super cosy atmosphere. As for food, the Takoyaki balls were super delicious. The ramen we took, hmm.. they were good too but I expected them to be better. I had the Tonkotsu and added extra black garlic oil too but I personally found that it still lacked depths and flavours. (Same impressions from the people accompanying me) I would recommend if for the welcoming and super nice decor though

Fantastic cocktails, tasty ramen in a unique and atmosphere! Full menu available only as an Instagram highlight, which is a little frustrating. The Tres Spicy Mazemen special with the depth of mala spice (and a small glass of soy milk to reset!) is not for the spice-averse. Friendly service, but not the fastest; we weren't checked on/had water refilled between food arriving and finishing eating, and quite a gap after, as well. Understandable for a busy Saturday evening.

I come to this restaurant almost every month (wish I could go more often) just for the delicious Mazesoba. It has a unique flavor: fresh, with a spicy kick. Highly recommend bringing a mint or some gum for afterward!

We had to wait 1h15min for a table, but they told us right away it would be between 1–1.5 hours. Left my number, went for a walk, and got the callback exactly on time—no complaints for a trendy Saturday night. Once inside, you’re completely immersed in Neotokyo’s cyberpunk ramen world. Neon signs, a retro phone booth, even the graffiti in the bathroom—every detail is perfect. It’s hands-down the coolest restaurant design I’ve ever seen. Service was fast considering it was a full house—order taken in about 10 minutes, ramen and sides out in 16. Prices are really fair: $110 for 2 mains, 2 sides, and 2 drinks. Everything was flavorful and delicious. Easily my new favorite ramen spot in Montreal.

Atmosphere wise, this place is really cool and scores a 100 for vibe, feels like AKIRA. Definitely check it out at least once. Decent ramen, they give you a good amount of noodles BUT the truffle ramen I ordered had no meat at all just a couple of mushrooms and cabbage...? Quite a disappointment for a $20 bowl, not recommended. The Takoyaki was good, recommended. The Yakisoba (their Monday special) was surprisingly good, we really liked it, you could taste the lightly charred flavor, wife and I loved it. Overall the ramen just was OK at least for the ones I ordered, otherwise this could've been a 5 stars.
